In Hebrew "glory" is kāḇôḏ, from kāḇēd, "to be heavy," hence "wealth, honor, dignity, power," etc.
God said to Moses-"Thou canst not see my face and live." There are two senses in which this is true. No man can see God's face as a sinner; and no man can see God's face even as a saint.
